BOY SCOUTS:
Troop 35 Boy Scouts meets on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the National Guard
Armory. Boy Scouts is open to boys completing the 5th grade, to age 18. The
troop participates in weekly meetings, Spring, Fall, and Winter Camporees;
Annual Scout Show; Summer Camp; and regular monthly weekend campouts when
possible. The troop is sponsored by the American Legion Post 50 of Sisseton. If

CUB SCOUTS: Pack 35 meets on every third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the National
Guard Armory. Cub Scouts is open to boys age six to ten. The pack participates
in individual den meetings during the month, the annual Blue and Gold Banquet,
Scoutarama, and summer camp. The pack is sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church. For

GIRL SCOUTS:
Girls in grade 1-6 have the
opportunity to be in Girl Scouts.
These troops, which include
Brownies, Junior Girl Scouts, and
Girl Scouts, meet every other week
on Tuesday afternoon, 3:15-5:00 |

May. The girls participate in summer camp, an
overnight fling in Watertown, Girl Scout Week,
cookie sales and other local activities. For

4-H CLUB: Youngsters age 8 to 18 are eligible to join a 4-H club. There are several 4-H
clubs in the Sisseton area and most meet monthly. Achievement days are held in
mid-August at the county fairgrounds, ½ mile south of Sisseton on Highway 7.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S CLUB-- Meets the second Wednesday morning of each month
at 9:30 at St. Peter’s Hall. The club is affiliated with Stonecraft ministries
and is open to women of all denominations. Free babysitting
is provided. Bible studies and prayer coffees are also

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS is the equivalent to Jaycees/Jaycettes in other
areas but has no age limit. Membership is open to couples as
well as individuals. All money raised by the group is used
in the community. This active group is responsible for improvements in
city park equipment, the annual Snow Queen Contest (held 2 weeks prior to
Thanksgiving)), a Halloween party for all community children, an Easter Egg Hunt

SISSETON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION:
The Sisseton Area Community Foundation is a non-profit organization that was
formed in 2002 to serve donors and a broad range of charitable purposes in
Sisseton and its surrounding communities. It is a permanent, growing
endowment built by gifts from individuals, organizations and businesses.
Contributions to the Sisseton Area Community Foundation are placed on deposit
with the South Dakota Community Foundation for investing. The foundations
distributes its earnings to worthy projects throughout the Sisseton area.
The Foundation welcomes gifts of any size. To make a donation or for more

THE HILLS AND VALLEY RIDING CLUB, INC. was organized in 1944. Membership
is open to all ages who share a love for horses and the outdoors. In June of
1995, the club sponsored its 30th annual trail ride. The three day event draws
300-400 people from several states to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Coteau
Hills. The trail ride is the second weekend in June. The club arena, “The Miles
Nelson Arena”, was named in memory of the late Miles Nelson. Miles was a charter
member of the club. The arena was moved to the northwest corner of Sisseton in
1994. Through the generous donations of individuals, organizations, and the hard
work of club members, the arena is considered to be one of the nicer arenas in
the area. The riding club sponsors fun days throughout the summer at the arena,
the Glacial Lakes 4-H Rodeo and Roping Club hosts various roping events, and the
arena is available to other organizations that wish to use it. Monthly club
meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at the Sales Barn Cafe. For

HORSE & BUGGY DAYS COMMITTEE -- Meet in the education wing, East

KIWANIS
CLUB -- is a service organization which provides opportunities for
leadership and community
improvement. The group’s main
emphasis is helping the youth in our
community. The club is open to men
and women and meets weekly for lunch
at noon on Mondays at the CDP
Hospital. Events and activities the

| sponsored include: choral music festivals
for area high schools, Coats for Kids, car show
pancake feed, an annual track meet, and student

| THE LAKE AREA CRUISERS-- is a car club comprised of auto enthusiasts from
Sisseton and the surrounding area. There is no focus on any special type of
vehicle. The club has approximately 35 members. The Lake Area Cruisers organize an annual
car chow the first Saturday of June each year. Car show committee meets weekly
from February to the end of May. The club also sponsors a poker run, cruise-in,
and other events monthly, as weather permits. Events are open to all types of
vehicles and are open to the public. The stated purpose of the club is to
encourage people to enjoy and use their special interest vehicles rather than

Glacial Lakes R&SVP--The
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
invites adults age 55 an over to use their life
experience and skills to answer the call of
their neighbors in need. AS R&SVP
volunteers, you are never required to do any
other assignments than those you want to do. You
are volunteering! Stations appreciate the fact
that you are covered by a supplemental insurance
policy to protect you going to, during and
returning from your volunteering assignments.
All information given to us is kept
confidential. Every year a recognition banquet
is held free for all active volunteers. We
are hoping you will join the R&SVP family.

THE SISSETON ARTS COUNCIL-- has actively provided a wide range of
programs in theater, dance, music, visual art and literature in the schools and
community for more than 20 years. The all volunteer board meets monthly and
works in partnership with area schools, museums, and community organizations to
bring arts and audiences together. Ongoing programs include Missoula
Children's Theater, Holiday Harmonies, artists-in-schools, Winter Show art
event, Horse & Buggy Days arts event, Oral Interp Showcase, and an exciting
variety of touring through the South Dakota Arts Council. Contact Jane

THE SISSETON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE-- represents over 85 businesses in our
community. Its role is to promote the Sisseton area, its businesses, people, and
natural resources. Some of the annual events the Chamber sponsors include: the
Lake Area Cruisers Car & Motorcycle Show (1st weekend in June), Horse & Buggy
Days (3rd weekend of July), the Lighted Parade in November, the Winter Show
