Sisseton is divided into three wards. Each ward is represented by two Aldermen on the City Council. The Aldermen positions have staggered two-year terms, with three seats up for election each year, one from each ward. The position of Mayor is also a two-year term and is up for election in odd-numbered years.

• Municipal Elections are held the 2nd Tuesday in April.

• Election voting is held in the Community Room at City Hall:
  406 2nd Ave. W
  Sisseton, SD 57262

• Nominating petitions can be circulated beginning the last Friday in January and must be turned in to the Finance Officer at City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on the last Friday in February.
